Entrepreneurial energy is building once again as the IGNITE Business Competition prepares to launch a new year of innovation, opportunity, and bold ideas. Applications will open soon, and Great Bend Economic Development is inviting aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners to take their shot.

Inspired by the popular “Shark Tank” format, IGNITE gives participants the chance to pitch their business concepts to a panel of judges — and to a supportive community eager to see new ventures succeed. The annual competition has become a signature event in Barton County, celebrating creativity, initiative, and the entrepreneurial spirit that helps communities grow.

Participants compete for significant funding to help bring their ideas to life. The Grand Prize winner receives $50,000, while Second Place earns $30,000 and Third Place receives $10,000. Audience members also play a role in the excitement, voting to award the People’s Choice Prize of $5,000.

More than just a competition, IGNITE is designed to spark momentum for local entrepreneurs. Contestants gain valuable experience refining their business plans, building confidence, and connecting with mentors and community leaders along the way.

Businesses and organizations also have the opportunity to be part of the impact through event sponsorships, helping support entrepreneurship and economic growth across the region.

If you have a great business idea — or know someone who does — now is the time to start preparing. Barton County is ready to hear what you’ve been dreaming up.
