Mark Calcara Named 2026 Parade Grand Marshal

GREAT BEND, Kan. — Big Bend Bash organizers are proud to announce longtime community advocate Mark Calcara as the Grand Marshal of the 2026 Big Bend Bash Red, White & Blue Parade.

Calcara has been a dedicated supporter of Great Bend for many years, serving as a longtime Great Bend Economic Development (GBED) board member and champion for community growth, downtown development, and local events. Most recently, he was recognized with the prestigious Legacy Award from the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce for his lasting impact on the community.

“Mark has spent years helping move Great Bend forward and supporting projects that make our community stronger,” said Nicci Henderson, Director of Great Bend Alive. “From downtown events to economic development efforts, his passion for Great Bend has never wavered. We’re excited to honor him during one of the biggest celebrations of the summer.”

The Big Bend Bash Red, White & Blue Parade will take place Saturday, May 30, in downtown Great Bend as part of the all-day festival celebration. The parade kicks of Big Bend Bash at 10 a.m. This year’s patriotic theme celebrates America’s 250th birthday and encourages businesses, organizations, families, clubs, and individuals to decorate and show off their red, white, and blue spirit.

Parade participation is completely free, and organizers are currently accepting entries.

Big Bend Bash will also feature live music, food trucks, a vendor market, water fun attractions, family activities, and more throughout downtown Great Bend.
